A 21-year-old man from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, was killed on May 23 just before midnight. The deceased saw an accident on Shadow Oak Drive and Route 114 and stopped to render aid. While the man was helping the driver who had hit another vehicle, he was killed when a passing semi-truck struck him.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident was arrested by police. He was transported to Cumberland County Central Booking. He is facing a DUI charge, according to police.
The driver may be held responsible for the death of the man who was helping him. The trucker and the trucking company could also be held liable. It can be difficult to determine exactly what individuals or companies are responsible for such an accident. That’s where the experience of a personal injury attorney comes in. An attorney can handle identifying the liable parties, as well as providing expert witnesses to testify at trial, when needed.
Personal injury attorneys review all the evidence in wrongful death and personal injury cases. A wrongful death cases is filed by family members who have lost a loved one due to another person’s negligence or recklessness. Those who are injured in a car accident due to someone else’s actions are also able to sue for compensation for a variety of claims. An attorney can provide more information on these claims, but some of them include medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish and lost wages.
While compensation won’t take away the pain or expenses of the death of a loved one, it may help the family face the future financially sound.
