There are multiple causes of pedestrian injury in a road accident

| Sep 25, 2015 | Firm News, Pedestrian Accidents

When you are traveling as a pedestrian, the chances are the thought of being involved in a motor vehicle accident is far from your mind. Yet every year in Pennsylvania, pedestrians are seriously injured, or worse, in accidents on the roads. The problem is that all too many drivers still fail to look out for pedestrians or to take the necessary precautions to avoid causing them harm. Worse still, when an accident occurs, it can often be a pedestrian that suffers the consequences.

Pedestrian accidents do not solely include cases where a vehicle has struck a person on foot. For example, you could be injured by something like a light pole falling on you after it has been dislodged by a collision. You could even be struck by debris from an accident or affected by the spillage of a truck’s hazardous load.

Whatever the case, you should not have to pay the price for someone else’s mistake, and you may be able to claim compensation. Where possible, try to record as many details as possible about the incident as this may be useful if you decide to file a claim against those responsible.

If you have been involved in an accident with a vehicle while you were on foot, you may be more focused on your recovery than pursuing legal matters. However, it is worth considering your options as a successful claim could relieve some of the financial strain such incidents can cause.
